Hunt Engineering Company (HUNT) located in Malvern Pennsylvania is looking for team members for the Survey Services Department.  HUNT’s Survey Services team provides services for various clients in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland; our typical workload includes topographic, utility, airport, transportation, ALTA/NSPS Land Title and bathymetric surveys.

 

Survey Project Manager

 

The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following: 

  • Assembles deed mosaics including making minor property line adjustments and correcting closure errors.
  • Reviews right-of-way plans prepared either in house or by outside clients as required.
  • Reviews courthouse research performed by others to assure correctness and completeness.
  • Reviews a wide variety of deliverables prepared by office staff to confirm accuracy and completeness.
  • Reviews survey calculations completed by others.
  • Downloads and processes complex GPS data and prepares GPS reports as required to submit to DOT, Turnpike Commission or similar agencies.
  • Makes boundary line location recommendations in accordance with state laws and statues.
  • Prepares monthly progress reports.
  • Conducts visits to project sites for various reasons.
  • Manages minor to complex survey projects.
  • Supervises both field and office staff as required.
  • Coordinates the training of staff assigned to the Survey Manager.

 

This role requires a minimum of one (1) of the following criteria:

  • Show prior experience as a Survey Project Manager, or similar role, with another employer.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in surveying or a closely related field from four-year College or technical school.
  • Have six (6) to ten (10) years related and progressive experience and/or training, with at least two (2) years being a supervisory role.

 

Other job requirements: 

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with Civil3D, Trimble Business Center and other commonly used software packages
  • Must have reliable transportation to office when required
  • Must have a safety mindset
  • Exhibit a team attitude and work well with others

 

The preferred candidate will have hold a Surveyor in Training certificate or Professional Land Surveyor license in Pennsylvania or another colonial state..

In the current environment there seems to be surplus of opportunities for well qualified candidates. I think that employer should be thinking of selling themselves a little more aggressively than has been traditional. The foregoing advertisement contains 487 words, over 400 of them about the employers expectations. The statements about expectations are quite specific, the remaining few words about benefits are not.

I'm not trying to insult this employer, my comments are aimed at a general audience.
