Hiring: CompassData, Inc
Location: Inverness, Colorado | On-site with Field Travel
CompassData seeks an experienced Field Crew Manager to lead daily geospatial survey operations. Responsibilities include hiring, training, and managing crews to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient data collection aligned with project goals.
Expertise in GNSS/GPS, mobile mapping (Trimble MX50/MX60), UAV LiDAR, and terrestrial LiDAR is required. This role oversees field deployment, upholds technical standards, and ensures projects meet or exceed expectations.
Interesting choice of job title given the expectations. It seems we have different ideas of what a "crew chief" does. I'm seeing "Senior Project Manager" all over this. Of course, titles don't matter if the money is right.
I'm guessing that CompassData is a recruiter, not a surveyor, and a little unfamiliar with the lingo. To help out, I will explain:
Survey Crew Chief (in the thread title) works on, and is in charge of, one field crew. The person with on-site responsible charge of the field crew (usually 2-3 persons, including the chief).
Field Crew Manager (in the job description) or Senior Project Manager does the work that is described in the job posting.
