I'm a big fan of normal life. Here we have a mobile home with an add on garage. And, a goat, and a donkey. And a bit of concrete. And a gate. And, apparently the owners had to go somewhere, so somebody comes by to feed above animals. It's near a section corner. The section corner was a 1/2" rebar, bent over. I removed said rebar, straightened it, and reset it, several inches subsurface. It fit my search coord by a few hundredths.
I need paid by a client.?ÿ
I've got 10 jobs that need my attention.
And, I really should wash this new puppy, sitting in my lap. She's a rat terrier, and has some fleas.
The weather is cooling a bit.?ÿ
I need to cut 5 loads of firewood.
The cow just had a fall calf. She got milk fever. We IV-d her with Cal mag. She went down, and was under a hot electric fence for a couple of hours. Poor girl. She was quite tame, but is even more docile now, after all the super pampering. We nearly lost her, but she's gonna be ok, I think.
And, a nice new heifer to boot.
And, I have a past client who balked at my bill to pay $200 to write a 60 course desc. I've surveyed it, 7 yrs ago. He thinks it should be free. I told him to find another surveyor.
$200 is dirt cheap. If that's not good enough, he can write it himself.
My payment to Javad is due today. I don't have the money. Unless this family I'm working for pays today. I don't have a contract. They are good people. His dad died last fall, at 59 yrs old. They will eventually pay, but I need some now. They said it was "in the mail".?ÿ
It's Friday, and the end of the month.
I chased down a UPS truck yesterday. For driving like a maniac. I blocked him into a driveway, and told him to slow it down. We went round and round. Sheriff said let him go. I got his picture, and truck number. I'm supposed to file a complaint with ups, but that takes time.
I'm getting older, and crankier. The next generation is 10x smarter than me. But cannot comprehend how and why tires get flats, and somehow think more legislation will cure it.
Goats still act like goats.
And cows will usually come see if you have some food.
My mother in law hates me, (it's ok, they are supposed to!) and the sun will be up soon. Right on time.
Nate
So it goes
Through the years I have been in that same problem numerous times.?ÿ Something needs paid right now and it seems like everybody who owes me money has disappeared.?ÿ Two days from now six checks show up in the mail.
On the other hand I have been that person slow to pay some bill that I owe, but I have a really good excuse.
However, there have been so many times when somehow, some way the money shows up just in the nick of time.
It may have been a need for $100 or it may have been a need for $20,000 but if I didn't have it ahead of time I felt terrible.?ÿ Wish all clients could feel as badly as what I have felt when I've been short.
I'm sure these are pets.
?ÿ
cannot comprehend how and why tires get flats
At least they are only flat on one side...
Wash the puppy. Chop the wood. Those other things will wait.
I love Vonnegut!
I had a similar incident with a delivery driver form Fedex. I watched him rip down the road in front of the house and low off a stop sign.
Got in the truck and calmly followed him to his next stop. Nosed in front of his truck and Got out and dropped my sunglasses so he could see my eyes, and said" You'll never blow through that stop sign ever again, understood??ÿ There are young children in this neighborhood " He looked at me ( 6'2" 225) and offered a shaky " um Oh man, yeah, I'm really sorry, really."?ÿ He looked like he wasn't sure If i was actually going to pull him out of the truck or not.?ÿ Either way, That was the last time I saw a Fedex truck blow off a stop sign on my street there.
That sounds very interesting Nate.?ÿ Life its always happening, good bad, inconvenient and indifferent.?ÿ Also positive and happy at times too.
Hopefully the monies flow soon and the malingers move on to other less valuable things.

So it goes......?ÿ
my crankiness is the obnoxious idiots with glass-pack mufflers and Harley Davidson motorcycles. The glass packs are worse. The HD guys down the street at least leave or arrive, that's noisy but they don't prolong it. The kids with glass packs maximize the noise and aggressive driving.
I shouldn't complain - we're doing pretty well.?ÿ But I know some people who aren't.?ÿ Just saw a message that our minister has come down with COVID, despite being one of the more careful people I know.?ÿ Has a spouse and 1-year-old to isolate from.?ÿ And one of the people in our writers' critique group writes she won't attend our Zoom meeting this week:
In the past seven days I have dealt with a massive school paper, a natural gas leak in my home, a Covid scare from my youngest grandson who is living with us, I'm now homeschooling 3 children, the oldest in 8th grade. The insurance company wants to total my car because of hail damage, and the company that is supposed to do my siding this month stopped returning my calls.
So if there is a bright side to your life, appreciate it.

Its posts like these that I find it hard to "like". But thanks for it. Statements like Nate's reminds most of us how good we have it, how hard we work, and why we respect the tools we have been given. The common thread is do the right thing, talk to people, and somehow it will work itself out.?ÿ ?ÿ
@paden-cash Those cold carbureted engines with low idle speeds are cranky.?ÿ A few twists of the throttle blows out the soot and puts a bit of heat in the engine.?ÿ That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ?ÿ????
Ok, check did come in mail. Ups truck roared by at ridiculous speed again. I think I'll put up a sign "please slow down, I've got kids".
Maybe that ups driver is getting pressured to make too many deliveries, and they don't want to pay another driver, to meet the need.
I'm getting guitar lessons, with my kids. We have a VERY astute teacher. He gave the kids a 1 string guitar, tuned to open C. Then a 3 string one. And then tuned a 6 string one of mine to open C. This makes a super easy to play guitar. Teacher said: "I charge 90$ a lesson, but if you practice 90 minutes between lessons, (10 min twice a day is better than an HR twice a week) you won't have to pay. Well, so far they all have sore fingers, and practice til sore, then play open slide. They love it.
Going to the bank, and paying bills....?ÿ
Gotta draw plat.
Thanks for listening,
Nate
In another 2 generations, Harleys will be electric, go 500 MI per charge, and have a boom box underneath, with an app for the cell phone, to make the potato-potato-potato sound.?ÿ
I am not sure I like this.....?ÿ
?ÿ
?ÿ
Sounds like you need @Jitterboogie to come by and help out with the UPS truck.
I have found that calling the police every day to complain will eventually get a car out there to enforce the speed laws...of course then I have to follow them too...
Thanks for listening,
You have many friends here.
Glad the week wound down on a good note.?ÿ
I remember a December 15th. about 30 years ago....on a Friday afternoon I found out we had all been laid off and would have to wait a week for my last check.?ÿ Had to leave the truck at the office.?ÿ Couldn't call the house because the phone had been disconnected for non-payment.?ÿ Had to walk home.?ÿ Got home and discovered the transmission had gone south on the only car we had.?ÿ And there was a red tag from the electric company on the front door. That was the "any day now" sign for the lights being turned off.?ÿ I didn't have two nickels to rub together, let alone make a Christmas for everyone.
I remember running in the house and flying to the back door.?ÿ When the kids asked me what I was doing I told them I was just checking to make sure my dog hadn't died.
Found a friend that had a tranny he was willing to donate.?ÿ But I had to pull it out of it's carcass and lug it home with the help of my brother.?ÿ Every time I smell transmission fluid it reminds me of that Christmas.
By January I was slamming blue-tops in frozen sub-grade and feeling a little luckier...except for the fact that I hate blue-tops.?ÿ?ÿ
Something needs paid
I've always been perplexed by this construction.?ÿ "Paid" isn't a noun, it's a form of the verb "to pay." (It can also be an adjective, but that's not what we're dealing with here.)?ÿ In the example above it should be "needs to be paid." I see it with other verbs, too, perhaps it's a regional thing.
Perhaps it is regional.?ÿ Something needs done. ???? ?????ÿ
