I don't really care for their attitude in this line: "duties include: organizing and overseeing straightforward survey projects, signing off on uncomplicated survey projects".?ÿ It makes it sound like you're just a rubber stamp for a survey factory.?ÿ Otherwise the job sounds great!

The Survey may be uncomplicated, however the drafting is complex.
Yeah, but did you see the salary range?

Well we can't really give you a raise; but we did bring you in at the top of the pay range, so.....

Based on a quick cost of living analysis i would say definitely not.?ÿ Maybe for a new PLS, but certainly not an experienced-seasoned one.?ÿ I am also with Allen W.?ÿ ?ÿIf they felt it necessary to include that statement in the ad they already have pre-conceived notions how they expect you to manage your work product.?ÿ In my experience that is not a good sign as it usually means it was prepared by an engineer.
Not the cheapest location in Montana to buy a place.
It's a middle level DOT job.?ÿ How complicated should it be??ÿ $63k with State bennies is better than a poke in the eye.?ÿ Plus Big Mountain skiing and Flathead cherries...
My Dad spent about 10 years in Kalispell before moving home to take over the family farm/ranch and getting married to my Mother.?ÿ We went back for a visit/trip down memory lane when I was about 12.?ÿ He had been talking about taking us to this place that had the best pizza in the world for a year before going.?ÿ We pull up to where it was supposed to be and all that was left were the charred remains of 2 walls and nothing else.?ÿ We get out and he asks a passerby?ÿwhat happened to?ÿSmitty's or whatever it used to be named.?ÿ "Oh, the damned Canadians burned that place down years ago" is the reply.?ÿ Well, next up is Charlies Tavern (that's again not the real name, I was 12 and hungry!) which had the 2nd best pizza in town, sawdust on the floor?ÿand holes in all the tables so you could swipe your peanut shells through to the floor.?ÿ It's a bar but it's only 6:00 PM on a Thursday, should be safe for a couple hours right??ÿ Nope!?ÿ Dad opens the door and all I can see past him is some dude flying through the air and one of the female bar tenders trying to choke a guy out from behind.?ÿ It was a full on bar brawl that I'll never forget.?ÿ That was about the most angry I ever got to see my Dad; no pizza and he?ÿaccidentally showed us his past.?ÿ 6 years later when I graduated High School me and several buddies took a week long?ÿski trip to Big Mountain.?ÿ Guess the first place we went for a drink??ÿ
Bumping to the top-
