Standing in a back water of the ST Regis river....
priority A mark that won??t be getting observed for gps on Benchmarks- just down the hill to the west from today??s jobs....
They are missing out on a lot of good elevation marks by not allowing offset sessions.
I tried to cheat and submit a share for a temporary point that was leveled to match a mark too close to a building, in order to record that the reset disk elevation was blundered.?ÿ No dice- rejected.?ÿ Has to be on a permanent mark. The multipath was so bad over the mark I'm not sure I can find a 4-hour portion of my session that meets share criteria.
I'll submit a recovery explaining my GPS results.
here's a better picture without so much compression.
Mmmmm, Bullwinkle Burger!
anymore, I'm getting so I look at those things and think- "man- shooting that thing would be ALOT of WORK!"

Having helped several folks field dress and "recover" some pretty good sized Bullwinkles, I can confirm that it IS A LOT of WORK.

Yesterday's setup wasn't quite so rural as to have wildlife.?ÿ I used the 2-tripod trick again.?ÿ Rapid solution for the 8-hour session is 3 mm north and 7 mm up from when I did this one before-I'll take that for repeatability.
I should thank Mr. File again for getting me started with gear.?ÿ He sold me a full 4000st outfit at a bargain price, and I upgraded the receiver to a 4000sse from ebay.
Where's Rocky?
Boris and Natasha are hiding nearby.
Once it drops, all the fun stops....
?ÿ I used the 2-tripod trick again.?ÿ
Been surveying for almost 20 years. How is this the first time I'm seeing this trick?! Thanks for sharing.

Me too and I've been surveying for 45 years.

I pretty much gave up hunting deer and elk for that reason.?ÿ Spending all day dragging it out of a western Oregon canyon takes all of the fun out of it anymore.?ÿ I just buy a tag and hang out in the woods looking for birds now.
Hunting has got to be the most difficult and expensive way there is to get meat. Raising your own cattle would be 2nd most.?ÿ?ÿ
Offshore fishing has hunting beat for expense by a long mile. A single rod and reel set up for pelagics costs as much as a quality hunting rifle, and they usually have 4 - 8 lines in the water at any time. Then, check out the prices on the fancy boats...

The last few times I went deer hunting I carried a camera and a pair of binoculars.?ÿ I have no problem harvesting and cleaning a deer but I'm the only one in my family who likes venison.?ÿ I'm not going to kill a deer just to say I did.?ÿ I don't even have any racks on the wall anymore.

Fish for sport only, not for meat. Fish meat is practically a vegetable.?ÿ?ÿ

Where's Rocky?
I'm not sure where Rocky was, but a bunch of his cousins were at the Dena Mora Rest area.....

I should know better than to brag.?ÿ Karma and statistics will get you.?ÿ
Most recent 8-hour session rapid-orbit solution was 31 mm below the older 6-hr one.?ÿ Ouch.?ÿ The pk-pk ranges of the two sessions don't even overlap.?ÿ There are significant trees to the north and northwest, but still a lot of open sky east, west, and south.
