I checked your coordinates for the section corner you sent me to my map and it's 50' off.
What map?
The offical map.
What offical map?
The county map.
What county map, there isn't a map for this area in the county records.
Yes there is, you can get online.
Oh, well let me show you this. You know how the corner got paneled. Is this how far off your offical coordinate is?
from Google with "offical" section lines imported:
Why yes, your coordinate is 50' east of where it's supposed to be.
Well I really hate to tell you this but those maps are wrong.
But we use them all the time.
Ho boy! Heah we goes!
those maps are right, until you zoom in
Kinda like "Well the builder/realtor told me that the sod line was the property line" 😉
Musta' used RTK
"The power company always put the power lines down the property line." 😀
Well...Have the Professional Surveyor who created and certified your map give me a call...I'm sure I can explain it to him...click...
DDSM
That's like the tv commercial where the girl says "they can't put anything on the internet that isn't true"!
Around here, that would be the "Official" GIS map the person picked up from the county.:-)
"Well, your corner is 3 feet from the chainlink fence corner and you know those guys who build those fences wouldn't build a fence there unless it was on the property line - those fences are expensive! "
I wonder if he clicked through the typical GIS disclaimers, disavowing any warrantee of accuracy, before he got to that official online county GIS map.
