Getting field work accomplished is no fun.?ÿ That's why I'm attempting to finish draft a survey I did in March.?ÿ After that, I intend to finish one we did in September.
First pic was sent to me by my number one farm worker.?ÿ Second pic is mine.
We've gotten our quota of rain here also.?ÿ As aggravating as it is to work around it's still a good thing.
I had a rain gauge for a number of years that was always spot-on with the National Weather Service's monitor station that is only a mile from the house.?ÿ I went out to check it one morning and it had fallen prey to a large hailstone...
I guess it was a fitting "warrior's death" for a rain gauge.?ÿ
While we have not had much rain in the last couple of days.?ÿ Here is what we have had to live with for since October (excluding about a week when the station was down).
This month we've only had 106.7 mm and we are scheduled another 20 to 25 mm before the month is over.?ÿ Typical wet Memorial Day weekend.
I ain??t showing mine until after the first Hurricane hits us this year. This ??weather forecast? was a prediction by SWMBO who is absolutely convinced one will target Central Florida this year. Personally, I??ve had my share of those monstrosities and wish they would go away forever.
We had a rain gauge on a telephone pole back in the day but nobody ever emptied it so it seemed kinda pointless.?ÿ I remember my dad also mounted a thermometer on the outside of the house pointed into one of the kitchen windows so we could read the temp from inside.?ÿ It was so cold in North Dakota during the winter that frost on the window would block you from making out the numbers anyway.
The only way to get water in the gauge around here is with the garden hose.
