for Xmas. Leica GPS SR9500, CR344, AT302. A little old, for sure, but it should be a good learning experience. I have never used GPS before and I'll be lucky if I can figure out how to turn it on.

So, any good reccomendations for a reading list.

I could probably use some photocopies of the manuals.

Nahh...you'll do fine. I just got offline with a friend from Fb. Brian dresen. He's pretty smart on that stuff along with many who post here. Brian sold us the Smart Rover when he worked for Leica. Ya might want to add as a friend. he's very helpful when it comes to that equipment.

Any Software?

Did you get all the cables and batteries in good condition?

You will be limited to OPUS or L1 only solutions without expensive software with the L2 option.

Scott would need the earlier System 300 manuals, however a lot of things don't change much over the years.

The cables are all there and the batteries are good.
No software though.

There's a copy of TGO v1.63 on eBay right now for $650 OBO. The seller claims that it's the "full version" with software keys. You'd want to verify that the WAVE baseline processor key and the NetAdjust key are included.

The seller appears to be legit, but it could still be a duplicated copy. TGO didn't have any mechanism to prevent copying except for the license keys, which will work with any install done from the same CD.

TGO is officially superseded software, having been replaced by TBC. Lots of us still use it, though. If I were in the market, I'd verify that the seller has the WAVE and NetAdjust keys, and offer $450 to see if he's anxious to sell.

If you have more time than money, there's always PAGES...

I used that system back in the 90s.

The old System 300, very nice in it's day.
Probably still better than some today.

The software was Ski.

GPS for Land Surveyors, by Jan Van Sickle, is excellent.

I had a Leica 300 series receiver and wanted to use LGO for processing. I couldn't get my XP Pro computers to read the data card. I think you will need Leica SKI or SKI Pro software to download your receiver. Good Luck, it should be a good receiver.

LGO v8.0 (the latest version) will allow the download of 300 series raw data.

I've had to go retro for a few of my hardware and make sure there is a desktop or laptop that have motherboards with the correct connections, like serial and cat5 connections and forget about usb or bluetooth or wireless to connect and transfer.

For some reasons the plugin cards do not always connect to pre xp hardware.
