I just got approved to sit for the Washington State Specific LS exam and was hoping someone here might have some additional material or recommendations for studying. I was planning on getting the following from Land Survyeors' Association of Washington (LSAW): LSAW Reference Manual, Washington State Common Law of Surveys & Property Boundaries books and the refresher course DVD's for Washington State Plane Coordinate System, Aquatic Boundaries in Washington, Washington Land Surveying Law, Legal Descriptions, and Principles and Practice.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Several years ago (2005ish) there was a really good article in the Washington Board Journal about how testees were basically outsmarting themselves.
eg, if the final coordinate has to be north and east of the beginning point, and only one of the multiple choice answers is north and east of the beginning point, is it necessary to spend a lot of time working out the answer to the 3rd decimal point? It's a mistake I made on one question on the OK license exam.
Maybe someone here knows the article I'm talking about and has a copy. Maybe you could contact the board. It used to be on their site in pdf format.
I always advise anyone sitting for the licensing exam in any state to get a hold of some copies of the reports on the key boundary cases in your state -- study them until you completely comprehend them (and understand where the court was coming from).

I agree with this, and can recommend Jerry B.'s book from the site you mentioned.
Remember that the board and the DNR have their view of laws and cases, and this test is a way to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Explorer this area, too. Free resources. Kind of hard to find this area, it is buried in a strange place. WSDOT has a lot of resources as well.

Jerry Broadus' "Washington State Common Law of Surveys and Property Boundaries", which the poster says he has, does just this for the state of Washington. It's predecessor, "Report 4", which is freely available online, was extremely useful to me when I wrote in 2000.
The Aquatic one noted above is where it's at. Good Luck! 🙂
