Thanks for sharing, David. 🙂
Does this mean it will occur at 1:40 AM until 2:30 am Pacific Time??? If so, I'll be awake!! I can report back and let you know if it affected my PC/cell phone, etc...
Hi Angel,
No. You have to subtract 8 hours to convert UTC (Greenwich, England) to PST. The pulse was anticipated at about 0200UTC on Feb 18, so that would be have happened at about 1800PST on Feb 17, or about 6pm. I guess we missed it.
I looked at the sky last night at about 9pm and again at about 2am but didn't see anything in the way of northern lights. The moon was blinding however, unusual in this area during the winter.
Tyler
I looked for some purdy northern lights last night as well but also was blinded by the spotlight of the moon.
May be more to come. Check out Spaceweather.com for more info on solar flares. Sun spot 1161 is very active.

Those northern lights are absolutely gorgeous!! I'd like to think I got a rare glimpse of them in a photo I took in 2006 when we had a snowstorm but I think all I got was snow in the wind. I'll post the pic so you can see what I am talking about. It's that white tornado looking thing in the sky there.
Great pic!
