Greetings fellow surveyors.

I am seeking links or contacts for access to Corps of Engineers boundary maps, plats, or land descriptions. Does anyone have a suggestion for researching property that the county records show landowner as "United States" but no reference to documents?

More specifically, this search is for Corps lands along the west bank of the Chattahoochee River in southern Alabama.

Thank you for any ideas.

Contact the appropriate Corp District. The Public Affairs Office should probably be able to direct you to the correct person. You may have to file Freedom of Information request to get the data. Ask early because it may take a little time to find the records. The data may be online so a Google search might turn something up.

For fed work, I've only worked well within the interior of any installation ?no research/ boundary required). But, I would start at the corps district office in mobile.

They may be a decent jumping off point.

If it's on a lake behind a Corps dam like we have there's an office at the dam with all the maps.
