Hi there

i have a few TSC2's running trimble survey controller version 12.49.

I have uploaded a feature library onto them all exactly the same way however 1 of them does not seem to recognise the attributes for any of my features with a number in the code.

eg i have a Manhole code (MH0) which requires a dimension for a circular manhole.

2 of the loggers do it fine no problems however the other 1 does not allow you to type in a dimension, this is the same for every feature that ends with a number.

Can Anyone help me out?

Cheers

Get two controllers side by side and start going through the settings to find what is different. [sarcasm]Try figuring this out when you only have one controller![/sarcasm]

First, make sure your feature-code files are exactly the same in all the units and that there are no conflicts such as having two files with same name but one with FAL extension and the other with FXL extension.

It may be worthwhile to copy the feature-code file from one of the working units to the problem unit, just in case.

I recommend connecting the TSC2 to a computer via ActiveSync and using Windows Explorer to check the feature-code files. The File Explorer program in the TSC2 does not show the file extensions.

Then reset the TSC2 so it has to reload the operating system and the Survey Controller program along with the feature-code information. (To do a reset, hold down the power button until the countdown starts, then release. Tap the "Reset" button.) Resetting can fix all kinds of puzzlements.

Good luck!

Thanks but still no joy

ive connected them both to the computer and uploaded the same feature library on with Trimble Geomatic Office they both are identical.

I think the problem may be with the TSC2 itself as i have noticed a few things that i cant do on that 1 logger.

for instance it also seems that i cannot set the logger to automatically use a set fixed coordinate of say 1000,1000,10 as i can on the other loggers and have to type in the starting coordinates every time i do a new job.

Im no closer to working out how to solve it than when i started? any other suggestions would be greatly accepted as its begining to drive me crazy.

Thanks

About the only other thing you could try would be to reinstall the Windows Mobile operating system and Survey Controller in the troublesome TSC2.

Backup everything in the "Trimble Data" folder first as a precaution.

Experience proved that is false economy to update Survey Controller without reinstalling the TSC2's operating system. It only adds a few minutes to the task but the success rate is markedly higher when you reinstall the operating system.

Also, even though sometimes the instructions for updating Survey Controller suggest you do not need to reinstall the operating system, every download set we have seen includes a version of Windows Mobile that includes the Survey Controller-version number in the file name (1249 in your case). There must be some reason for that file to exist so may as well use it.

Keep us posted.
