I recently bought this used 5800 gps set up and got it connected via cell phone to the local rtk cors system. It has been working fine, until the other day, my field guy is getting this error message:

"bluetooth hardware error-1"

The PIN for the BlueCap is RGR-BT0001 Rev.8.

Do I need to try to find another one to buy?

Is there some sort of battery in it that doesn't charge when we charge the TSCe it is connected to?

Here is a photo:

That "Bluetooth hardware error -1" message usually indicates a problem that will be cleared with a soft reset done while the Bluecap module is connected to the TSCe.

Bring up the taskbar by poking the stylus along the bottom of the screen, or pressing Ctrl then Esc in sequence.

Click Start button, then Programs | Utilities | Reset | Soft Reset. (the Hard Reset is also available at this point).

A "Reset Device" dialog will appear, click OK.

After the reset is complete, restart Survey Controller and set up your Bluetooth partnership as you normally do.

If that does not work, try the Hard Reset.

Finally, if those steps are not met with success perhaps you need a different Bluecap module and I could sell you a tested used one if necessary.

BTW. the product designation ends with Rev B (bravo), not 8.

AFAIK there are no batteries of any type in the Bluecap module.

Good luck.
