Greetings: Here's the scenario. The company I work for owns Trimble Construction gear (SPS930, SPS882 etc) and is slowly building up machinery with Grade Control (my expertise). For most tasks the construction gear and software (SCS900) is adequate. But on the job I am currently on I need more "survey" oriented gear. I need to do some static observations to establish control out of the range of our base etc.

So my questions: Is Trimble BC-HCE compatible with Trimble Access? If Access is installed on my TSC3's will it cause any conflicts with SCS900? Can the SPS930 and the SPS882 be used with Trimble Access? Can an 882 do static observations with Trimble Access or does it need to be 'unlocked' to do that? And, finally, can Trimble Access be used with Grade Control...?

Trimble maintains the artificial distinction between survey and construction and it is enormously frustrating. My reps can't (or won't?!) answer questions related to survey and the local survey guy likewise about construction.

I wasn't sure exactly where to post these questions (survey, software or construction...)

Thanks in advance.

Here's what I know.

TBC-HCE will work with Access.

I believe Trimble will allow Access on a TSC3 with SCS900, but not the other way around.

I have used an SPS 930 with Access, no problem.

Access does not use the same files as SCS900, at least not for roading.

If you put Access on a yellow controller, make sure the survey guy will support it, because around here the SCS guy won't.

I use Access for everything I do. Hate SCS900. Have an R8 Model 4 with VRS to calibrate sites, then output all the machine and controller files out of TBC.
