I'm in the process of purchasing a Trimble S3 and would like to delay the expense of adding the internal radio to my TSC3 by utilizing a set of Parani radios I have. Does anyone know if this setup will work with the Trimble S Series robots? The instrument settings in Survey Pro allow for communication to be set up for cable (direct), via the usb instrument cable that comes with the instrument. My Parani radios would utilize the DB9 port on the TSC3 and I wasn't sure if the softwares auto configuration would recognize the DB9 port or not. I guess I will find out soon enough, but was curious if anyone else tried this method.

I don't know much about the S3, but is their a cable available that allows the S3 to connect to a Parani? I.E., a 9-pin serial to S3?

The instrument cable that comes with the instrument has a USB end on it, but Trimble makes an DB9 cable for the S Series guns.
