What is the deal with the .ggf files? Is there a way to trim down the CONUS file to a smaller file, or do I just upload the whole thing into the DC? I really just need a couple counties. I can't find a tool to trim down a BIN or GGF. Thanks.
There is a program called Grid Factory that used to install w/ TGO, and might w/ TBC, that you could use to trim the CONUS GGF into something a bit more sensible. Googling "Trimble Grid Factory" brings up a couple of links right at the top, but I didn't get to see which is the correct/current version.
Trimble Business Center has a Geoid Subridding feature which will do exactly what you want. Looks like you need a license to run that feature on V3.11 though
Oh well. As long as loading the whole file works and doesn't slow the DC down too badly, I guess I'll be OK with that. It is like a 32MB file, though.
What state & county(ies)?
I can't do it right now, but in a couple of hours.
Or I could at least trim down to your state level.
Which Geoid (03, 09, 12A)?
I am running TBC 2.81 and have a license for it and have access to subgridding.
My e-mail is listed, if the file is not too big, I can e-mail back, or I could set you up a link in my Dropbox account.
I am running a Trimble TSC2 and just have the whole file loaded.
What state & county(ies)?
Thanks for the offer, but after thinking about it, I'm guessing with these newer DCs the memory and processing speed negate the downside, and it is not as much of an issue as it used to be to have a large file running in the background. So if the norm is to load the whole file, that's cool. I'm just not used to it.
What state & county(ies)?
Boggles my mind the memory in my TSC3. Have the entire 09 & 12AAK .ggf loaded up and hardly makes a dent in the memory or processing power. Now if only I could upgrade my own memory ... what was I just doing?
FWIW TPR, we have all the hardware power in the world and still create subgrids in TBC.
Found the Trimble Grid Factory here if you want to give a try...
