I have a *.dat file that has multiple runs in it. I can "pull" out that first run pretty easily. The overall file has 19 loops (runs or lines) in it.

The second loop has three separate runs in it, as the crew accidentally "closed the line", and started another "line" at that turning point. I want to combine these into one run if possible.

I would like to pull a separate Level Loop Report for each run, but I cannot see how I can do that.

I am using a Trimble DiNi level in the field, and Spectra Precision Survey Office for adjusting the runs. It is the basic version. I do not have the need for the full blown version.

I've tried combining the runs in a text editor, but either the *.DAT file has some formatting that the text editor is not seeing, or I am doing something wrong.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I might be able to do what you're asking in TBC Advanced, I'm not sure what the limitations of the basic version are or if SPSO has all the same tools as TBC.

Lee,

Thanks. I am pretty frustrated with that at the moment. This "should" be a simple process. I also dislike the reports being in HTML format. Why can't we just print out to a PDF and be done.

ARGHHH

The Level Editor is very limited from what I can tell. I am aggravated that I spend $5000 on a level, and the software to adjust the data is unbelievably limited, AND it has to be purchased separately. Don't get me started on the battery charger.

I changed the *.DAT to *.txt to upload the file.

If you would not mind taking a quick look and see if your full blown version will allow you to separate the files out, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jimmy

I use a dini all the time. I wrote software that reads a dini dat file, processes it to yield a fieldbook like format, and also creates input files for star*net and Geolab. But it basically is setup for our workflow. We put in codes fsurvey points and "TP" everywhere else.

I agree that in the old days when memory was expensive it made sense to make it as compact as possible, but they should have "modernized" the formats long ago. But Leica, Topcon, etc are no better, at least from what I have seen.?ÿ

Everyone, I was able to figure out how to delete the runs out and "isolate" the runs I am working with using the project explorer pane, and also in Level Editor. Thanks Daniel Shearon, and thanks to the folks here as well.

Looking forward to the training class coming up later this year on TBC and SPSO. I will be there.
