I have a large (10 MB) T01 file from a receiver. It has GPS and Glonass data at 5 s epochs. When I download it datatransfer creates a .dat file with GPS only (22.4 MB).
I want to create a rinex file with the GPS and Glonass. I cannot use teqc because it only works on the dat file, which does not have glonass. If I try to run converttorinex (a trimble utility), it immediately blows up. I downloaded the latest version, same problem. No indication of why it is doing this. If I try to do it inside TBC, the same thing happens, so I assume it is a problem with the converttorinex executable.
Is there any other way to create rinex file with GPS and glonass from Trimble? If I recall correctly, .dat files only have GPS. And teqc will not read .T01 files.
There is a Trimble utility that converts t01 files into .dat files. It is runpkr00.exe and is (was?) available on their web site. I may have a copy somewhere. Sending executables via email always tends to be a problem.

You could try sending me the T01 file. My trimble convert to rinex seems to be working.
My email is in my profile.
Unfortunately it only creates .dat files without glonass.
got it converted!
John: thanks for the offer. I installed the converter on another computer at my house (windows 8, yuck). It worked and converted it.
Not sure what i need to do to get convertorinex to work on my office PC. There is no uninstall as far as I can tell.

Hi John
Is there a difference in the amount of RAM between the two PCs? I recall when using older Trimble software such as WAVE that there appeared to be a limit to the number of baselines that could be run in a single processing session depending upon the available system memory. It wasn't hard to reach it.

got it converted!
Scott: both are windows 7, 64 bit. The desktop is a faster processor and has more ram. Maybe I will try deleting all remnants of the program and downloading a new install. Since it has some settings, it probably puts some data into the registry.
It is possible to get from T01 to RINEX (with GLONASS) via runpkr00 and Teqc. I've done it.
[inlinecode]runpkr00 -d INPUT_FILE.t01[/inlinecode]
will produce a DAT file, but...
[inlinecode]runpkr00 -g -d INPUT_FILE.t01[/inlinecode]
will produce a TGD file. TGD is an alternative format that will contain the GLONASS data. It can be used in Teqc with the same commands as DAT.

Thanks for posting that! It's potentially very useful to some of us, and the hidden nature of the -g option is something I probably would never have found otherwise.
While we are talkinf about RINEX.....
The Oregon GPS User's Group, OGUG, will be sponsoring a workshop in April. Details below.
Tutorial on the use of the UNAVCO software TEQC and
US Army Corps of Engineers software WinTEQC
and
Proposed new GNSS Surveying Standards
Sponsored by the Oregon GPS USER’s Group
TEQC and WinTEQC presented by Lou Estey and Mark Huber
TEQC was developed by UNAVCO to edit and manipulate GNSS data files that often must be translated to RINEX, edited to decimate the collected interval, delete unwanted satellites; trim off data at the beginning or end of the occupation, etc, as well as performing some quality control tests on the collected observations. It is a command line driven application in which the user supplies the various parameters to tell TEQC what needs to be done.
WinTEQC is a MS-Windows-based program which simply provides a user friendly interface that prompts the user for input and passes that to TEQC for processing. WinTEQC also has various tools for working with OPUS output from NGS.
New GNSS Surveying Standards presented by Greg Helmer
One aspect held in trust by the survey profession is the authority to certify as to the accuracy of geodetic control networks. The California Land Surveyors Association and California Spatial Reference Center commissioned the drafting of statewide standards and specifications for GNSS geodetic control surveying jointly published in 2015. This workshop session introduces the salient points and guiding principles for professional practice of GNSS geodetic control as agreed upon by the taskforce, together with disruptive technologies and modernized geodetic datum.

That is what I could not remember! tgd files. Thanks!
In runpkr00, it says:
"-g use type 27 (if it exists) and allow extended type 17"
the .dat file is 22.4 MB, and the .tgd file is 45.7 mb.
