Does anyone have any experience working with this program because, I can't get this stupid thing to work to save my life.

I'm trying convert a TDS .job file to an ascii file but keep getting an error canceling the conversion procedure.

I've heard invalid characters in descriptions and notes can cause a procedure failure. So I've tried eliminating notes and descriptions entirely from the .job file, only to see the program keep failing.

I can download my Ranger through Trimble Data Transfer, extract a .job and .raw file, but can't convert the .job file using the Ascii File Generator.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I'm working with practice files, nothing important.

We absolutely love ASCII generator! Our guys email their files from the collector to our email. We then take the .job file that came directly from the collector and we generate our daily cut sheets. Once I get to work tomorrow, I can let you know what specific ASCII option we use, but I know it starts with "combined...". We also always put in a description in (not sure if this has anything to do with it, but maybe?)

Hi,

check out this previuos post

[msg=72415]Ascii File Generator issues[/msg]

Not sure if it handles TDS job files, Help page only speaks about Trimble Survey Controller / Trimble Access job or jobxml files.

If you wouldn't mind, that would be great!!

I'm trying to simply our data transfer process and I think this Ascii File Generator may be the ticket. If only I could get the damn thing to work:-S

**Do I have to download the various style sheets from the Trimble support site to my PC directory, then re-select (Browse to) the desired sheet style again while using the generator? Do I have to download the style sheet?

**My data collector is an older Trimble brand TSCE Ranger which utilizes TDS.

Thanks

Spectra Precision (nee' TDS) has their own ascii file generator program.

check their website under survey pro downloads

...and YES... you have to have the style sheets on your data collector or on your computer for them to work!
