I have a Topcon Robot with two batteries. Recently, when I charge the batteries in my office and go to the field the batteries die within the first couple of shots, BUT if I plug the same charger into the inverter in my truck the batteries will charge and work like normal. Has anyone had this experience before?

I have a topcon 802AR, although I have not had that problem, I have had troubles with the two I have charging funny or dying after a few shots. I had them re-celled 3-4 times each in the 8+ years I have had them. Also found that the connection between the battery and robot has got kind of loose over the years so now I use duct tape to hold the battery secure in its place.

Have used an external power source but the idiot who built the power cord for me put fusecircuit box right by the instrument plug and it weighed it down enough that over time it screwed up the plug on the instrument so I dont trust it anymore.

Mack...check your connections to see if you have debris or corrosion. You can use isopropyl alcohol with a q-tip. If that doesn't work then it may be the charger itself.

Thanks Guys for the advice!!

Thanks Guys
Yesterday I did notice the the battery was not locked into place and it caused the instrument to shut down. I also believe there is a bad outlet on the power strip I was using.
