I have a trimble 5800 receiver, it works fine when in RTK mode but if I try to do a fast static shot it will not let me start the survey. Its just says "searching for satellites" the data collector will do a fast static session just fine with our other 5800 receiver. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've never seen that one before. Have you checked the internal storage of the 5800 to make sure its not full?

Make sure you've downloaded any static files that might be on it then try a hard boot.

I downloaded and then cleared the internal memory. That's when I started having the issue. I am hoping I didn't do anything when I deleted the .dat files. But I cannot imagine how that would have any effect on it.

If I do a hard reset on the receiver will I lose data such as the custom radio frequencies that are loaded on it?

Those files are probably still resident in a Recycle Bin. A hard reset will reformat the memory.

I'd try re-flashing the firmware if all else fails.

Do you have your computer with you? You can try download the program GPS configurator and there is a section with the logging of data. Ensure that the time interval is inserted so it can log data. I had that problem previously too. Not at my office computer so I can't screenshot to you.
