I work for a municipality so funds are always tight. Our total station is down and I just received a quote for a Futtura TS-100 Total Station. I have never heard of this brand before so I would really appreciate any info I can get, good and bad. The price is very good but if the instrument is unreliable no price is good enough. We need something for moderate use so we don't need top of the line, just something we can trust. Thanks for your comments.

The Futtura total station is a private label version of the Topcon 2LS model, called a Cygnus.

I found the specs here: http://www.futturaus.com/productsOpFutTS100.html

It is manufactured in China, as Topcon has been doing with some of its low-end total stations in a sort of "fight fire with fire" campaign. They have been doing this long enough that the quality seems to be reasonable for the price.

It is rated 2" accuracy and has a vertical compensator only.

We have sold a few of the Topcon 2LS version with pretty good results.

No Bluetooth. The communication to a data collector would be via serial cable. The data port is in the body of the instrument, not the base.

I know it comes from Topcon because I accidentally ordered one and was told it was the private label version and not available to Hayes Instrument Company.

Hope they come with a roll of this...

Talk about obscene advertising.
