Anyone have a go by for setting up layout and staking for road construction?
Basic files needed to download etc. and procedures?

Basic files you will need:
Control Points in text file
Road alignment in LandXML
3D linework in DWG,DGN, or DXF

No, I do not build templates in the controller often, only do this if it is a single typical section on a subdivision road. For highways with super elevations, and lane transitions, I create a complete surface model and 3D line work on a PC with office software such as:
Microstation with InRoads
Magnet Office
AutoCAD with Carlson Civil
