We have an IS3 robot. Same guts as 9003 and QS.

When in robotic mode and conventional 2man mode we get random spinning off into space. With no warning or error messages the gun will spin 360 a couple of times and then look off in a different direction. This happens with both bluetooth and cable mode. Running Topsurv on an FC2500.

We have a topcon 802ar, it will do something similar to that every so often, just freaks out and does its own thing for a minute and then you call it back and keep on working...also using a fc2500 with topsurv, but ran it for 7 years or so with a ranger running tds...did the same thing with both DC's.

The 802 works great for days in a row and then one day will be problematic with connections for no apparent reason...

I call it looking for squirrels. If there aren't any cars or other moving shiny distractions that might have confused it, I change the radio channel.

Edit: I only use mine as a robot with the radio link. Changing the radio channel fixed it so I just assumed interference from someone else working nearby on the same channel.

Maybe it sees something better to look at?

I thought about the channel idea, but it happens in conventional mode too. With bluetooth connection and with a cable connection. We are going to try it with a TDS data collector and see if that may narrow down the problem.

My 9005 would do the same thing.... I named mine "crackhead"... because for no reason, it would start "wandering"... it would start spinning 360... sometimes it would point straight up, then down, then turn somewhere I wasn't and stop.... power off then power on was the only solution...

Wish I could offer a solution, but I never did figure out what was causing mine to wander...

I don't have it anymore either.... 😉

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you...

I use mine with a Rc2 and nothing else (satels never used) and it still does the same thing, I think it is in the robot itself, or apparently topcon robots.
