Does anybody know the difference between the Topcon RC-2 wn and the Topcon RC-2 II. I need to replace my RC-2 II, and have a chance to purchase a RC-2 wn, but don't know if they are interchangeable.

Contact Troy Deaton with Deaton's Geo-tronics. I'm pretty sure that the RC and the handle on the instrument have to "match" and the instrument may have to be updated to communicate with a newer RC.

As far as I remember the wn version has a Bluetooth connection to the data collector as well as the cable option and you can use either. We had one once but we ended up just using the cable as the bluetooth seemed to slow down an already slow communication system.

If you are replacing an rc-2 with the wn version it should work fine. It did for me but check with the experts!

There is/was a Bluetooth gizmo that attached to the underside of the RC-2II W whatever. The difference was how the communications from the instrument was directed to the RC-2 itself. The signal from the instrument still came to the RC unit via the Serial connector via the Hirose port in the unit just as if it were directly connected to your data collector via cable.

So, however you were using your previous unit, the allegedly Bluetooth one you have found should function the same.
