We don't currently have GPS, so when we need it we borrow a fellow surveyors GPS. We set up base, collect static data as well as use the RTK functionality. Problem is what do I need to purchase to download from the hyper to the computer. Right now we are at his mercy and that doesn't always fit our schedule or our clients. I cut my teeth on Trimble(R7 & R8), and though they are nice, they are pricey, especially right now. Can anyone help me out and point me in the right direction? The way I am currently thinking I should be able to buy a bluetooth adapter and download the .TPS file straight from the base, no? Is there anything that I am missing? Do I have to download the files through topcons "PCDU" program?

Thank you all in advance.

You download data from Topcon Hipers with
PC-CDU
Topcon Receiver Utility - TRU
Topcon Link
Topcon Tools

All of these are FREE downloads and will allow you to get data from receivers. Only Topcon Tools is a paid software, but it can process up to 5 points in demo mode.

You can connect via bluetooth, RS232 (9 pin) or USB cable.

I prefer USB cable, it is the fastest method.

For USB you need drivers. Again free from Topcon for 32 bit and 64 bits Windows OS.

I ditto the USB recommendation. The cables come with the Hyper, so should be in the case. You need the drivers from Topcon... "Again free from Topcon" ... You can't say that with Trimble about anything!

Love my Hypers!

It is the same way with Leica. That is why I went the Topcon route when I opened up my business in 2007. Hayes Instruments is my dealer, and their support is top notch.
