Hey,?ÿ
Does anyone know where someone can access older firmware versions for Topcon GNSS receivers? It seems as if Topcon has shut down all the pages that used to host their file archives.
I have a pair of Hiper IIs that I want to revert to an older firmware, because since I did a totally unnecessary update to a 2017 firmware (from a 2012 or 2013) I have had no ends of trouble with maintaining a RTK fixed once GLONASS satellites are enabled. The receiver drops into Autonomous seemingly randomly, then I either wait or kill/plunge the receiver to try inspire it back to a fix. If I enable GPS satellites only, no problems at all! But then I lose the benefit of the additional SVs.
I've used 2 versions of Survey Pro, and Magnet Field and have the same issue. And had been using the receivers for years without the problem until the darned update.
Hopefully someone here has some guidance, or maybe even has the actual firmware files in backup that they could share!
Thanks!!
I've also had that problem.?ÿ You don't want to upgrade your Firmware if you are using Surveypro is my experience.?ÿ Whats your e-mail??ÿ I think I have those files, at least they have a 2010 date on them.?ÿ I'll email them to you.
Hi, it is my first time posting here.?ÿ
I am having similar problems with my HiPer II receivers as they lose lock way too easily.?ÿ I figured the way around it was to install new firmware.?ÿ The current firmware installed is dated May 31, 2013.?ÿ I downloaded a newer firmware version (GMSX BOARD (27-090001-01) ver 4.8 4/10/2020) to my PC.?ÿ I was able to connect to the receivers OK with TRU (version 3.5) and start the process, but after a few seconds the receiver powers down, then restarts.?ÿ Of course I get an unknown error and the firmware update doesn't occur.?ÿ It does the same thing on both of my receivers, so it is not like the problem is with a broken receiver.?ÿ The cable from the receiver to the PC has an old 9 pin serial end. My PC doesn't have a 9 pin serial port, so I bought a serial to usb cable and installed the appropriate driver for it.?ÿ
Given all of that, how do I solve my problem?
Do I just disable the Glonass on the receivers and leave the older firmware on them?
Do I install the older version of TRU and retry the update?
Is there some kind of issue with the serial to USB cable/port??ÿ I tried using a bunch of different baud rates, none worked.?ÿ The default TRU baud rate is 115200 with 512 packet size.?ÿ The serial to USB driver's buffer size is maxed out at 4096 bytes.
?ÿ
Any thoughts/solutions?
?ÿ
Thanks
I think the best thing is to leave the older Firmware in there, but if you notice these posts are from a couple of years ago so that might be old info. ?ÿIf you are using a PC you can add a serial port, the correct 9 pin setup pretty cheap. ?ÿIt will go in an empty slot and they are less than $20 and are plug and play.
?ÿ
Wish I was more help but I retired about 9 months ago and about a year before I retired we bailed out on the Topcon stuff and got Trimble.
Thanks for the idea,?ÿ unfortunately my PC is a laptop,?ÿ no room to add another port.?ÿ I will leave the older firmware in there for now.?ÿ I did try using the older version of TRU and that didn't work either.?ÿ This system is new to me, so I am in the testing phase.?ÿ I set the base on the roof of my house and it worked alot better today as the base location yesterday wasn't the best (would have been OK with a Leica or Trimble).?ÿ The rover still lost lock too much, even when stationary and in the open.?ÿ I guess the next step is to disable Glonass and see what that does.
Sounds like you have the wrong setting to power cycle during firmware install.?ÿ
I have updated firmware for clients with many Hiper II systems after the the April 2019 rollover.?ÿ
I also have older versions of firmware.?ÿ
If you can't get this working on your own I can help you. Email me at lee@leegreen.com to setup a time for a remote desktop session for assistance.
I've recently downloaded firmware upgrade files through Topcon's site.?ÿ Maybe you're not using the right path?
Try:
https://www.topconpositioning.com/support
If you don't have an account, create one.
Then once you have one and are logged in, click on "updates"
You should see the equipment that you have registered with Topcon.
If your Hiper II receivers are not shown, go ahead and register them.?ÿ It requires your serial number.
If they are shown, or if you've completed the registration of the equipment that you want to update the firmware on, click the icon for the product you want to update.?ÿ You should see a list of available updates for the product on the next page.
If you don't see what you need, contact Topcon or your dealer.

May i please have firmware files for topcon legacy-e receivers.
Also is there a way to enable rtk if it disabled on the receiver?
