1. Process topo until 3 a.m.
2. Get aggravated by party chiefs who call every 30 minutes but can't seem to find their phone when you need em.
3. I'm sure there's more, but I'm tired.
It's been a week- yesterday I got harassed by the same old coot who yelled at me 15 years ago (when I wasn't a business owner) for the exact same reason: I got too close to one of the no trespassing signs that appears every 20 feet around the perimeter of his property. Oh, and my little girl, as of today, ain't a little girl anymore. Think I'll splurge on one of those expensive sixers tomorrow- er- this afternoon.
4. Nicer to everyone. It's easier to be nicer when you look at everyone you meet as a potential client or lead.

This is one of my pet peeves! I can tell you it is definitely not unique to the self-employed.
Hijack for Mr. Solo only
28 years ago today I helped throw a birthday party for my daughter with a very special flavor because she was turning 13 on Friday the Thirteenth. Guess what type of movies the 17 girls watched until the wee hours of the morning. Dear Ol' Dad wasn't welcome to hang around the house, especially after I left once then snuck back and watched through a window to see when a really scary scene was about to happen then screamed like a banshee and started banging on the window and wall directly behind the girls. I think a couple of the girls had to do a little clean up work in the bathroom after that.
Your number two is a major pet peeve with me. Dammit, I'm not calling to ask about the weather or tell some silly joke, I need your attention and I need it NOW! The idiot who invented caller id should be drug out behind the barn and shot with a pellet gun for about three days straight, then put out of his misery.

Many years ago as a young PC, the boss would call 3-4 times a day to "see how things are going". One particularly rough day on the second or maybe third call my response was "It would be going a lot better if I wasn't on the damn phone all the time." He never called after that unless it was really important.

The great thing about being an owner/self employed is that you can pick any 80 hours of the week you want to work !
I was lucky when I worked for the man. There were no cell phones and no use of radios to keep in touch with the office.
If we really needed the office, which was very very very rare, we did it the old way - find a pay phone or go back in. There are no pay phones in my area now.
One outfit I party chiefed for required us to return to the office at lunchtime even if we were an hour and a half away, just in case we needed to be sent to a different job that afternoon. We had thirty minutes for lunch.
I am very thankful there was no GPS then, either.
Also, unlike what is insinuated below, I call maybe twice a week tops. In my field days I had managers that called me way too much, I try not to be that guy.
I try to keep it to where I'm not calling unless it is important.

Ummm, you forgot:
Insurance: (liability, auto, workman’s comp, etc.)
Taxes: (no explanation needed)
Payroll: (social security, FICA, FUDA etc.)
Overhead: (Rent, maintenance, office and field supplies, blah, blah….)
Personnel Manager: (Dealing with morons who think you owe them a living.) How to discharge renegade employees without a bulletproof vest, etc….
Cheer up Dude you are your own Master of Success. 🙂
1. Drop everything & pick up my kid from school.
2. Drop everything & attend my kid's school activities.
3. Drop everything & just spend the afternoon at the mall with the family.
4. Drop everything & go on a weeklong vacation with the family.
5. Drop everything & take care of a sick family member.
Sometimes you do not realize the advantages of having control of your time & life.;-)

yep, being able to choose which 80hrs you want to work definitely has its advantages.
That truly is a blessing. It gives me many opportunities to volunteer to help my community. Have much more flex time now to do that since the kids flew the coop.
