The Coast Guard site says a USABINIT was sent on October 14, 2011, but I did not receive one. Most unusual that it should take 90 days. What kind of testing were they doing?
I note that GPS PRN 01 is set healthy in Ashtech Web Planning. I also note a new color to indicate that PRN 01 and PRN 25 are broadcasting L5.

Paul,
Is the L5 any real benefit, especially for RTN/VRS/RTK use? Wouldn't you need to be locked onto 5 common sats broadcasting the L5 signal?
A week ago today I had a Z-12 LZ on 01 and 27 for a 3+ hour static observation, upon viewing the raw data neither are listed. At the same time a MMCE didn't show either yet my smart phone with a GPS app indicated 27 was in view. 😐
A Week Ago PRN 01 Was Still Set Unhealthy
A Z-12 might see it and waste a channel on it which is why PRN 01 has been turned off in my Z-12s. I finally received the NANU today, 01 was set healthy on 10/14/2011.
L5 improves the integer fixing and ranging calculations to each single satellite for the L1 and L2 observations. Any atmospheric correction from L1 to L2 can be extrapolated to L5. Whether the software does that I do not know. That slight improvement from one satellite would not be noticeable with plenty of other satellites in the mix but I surmise it would be noticeable with 3 L5 capables in view. With L5s going in open slots 01 and 25 are not viewable at the same time, so that day is far off. The post processing software could be able to take advantage of a single more precise satellite by using it as the reference satellite.
