Well received my letter from The Board today letting me know I now owe them $379.00 and have to start my continuing education come January 1st 2015! Probably be the only time in my life I am happy to give someone nearly $400 of my hard earned money.

Beats gittin' one that sez you don't owe them anything because you didn't measure up to standard.

Congrats.

Welcome to being responsible for the things you say and do.

Some of the best advice I ever read here was I believe put forth by Deral Paulk.

He suggested that as soon as you get your stamp, you gather up all your college books, study materials and a big pack of blank paper. You spend the next several hours stamping everything in sight. Use that stamp until you are sick and tired of seeing it. Use it until your arm is dog tired.

Then, you put it away and don't pull it out again until you must.

Always be careful what you stamp. Remember, your name means something and will be associated with that document and information for 100+ years.

Well, if you have to buy your own Christmas present, that's a pretty good one.

Congratulations

FWIW. - Maryland assumes you've been studying your a$$ off to get ready for the exam and gives you a break; no CEUs required on the first renewal.

congrats and welcome to a profession that in our state has approximately 2700 practicing members.

by the way, you better check that "start my continuing education come January 1st 2015!" action. it would seem that if you are now registered that your required CEU's will need to be completed by 12-31-1914 and not started on 01-01-2015. i would hate for you to miss out on all the fun and lose your registration.

also, the Brady, Concan, or West Texas seminars regarding original surveys are a group of fun and learning if you or your employer can come up w/ the $.

Frank,

Thank you and thanks for the concern but The Board is nice enough to give newly licensed surveyors the year off from CEU's. As far as the seminars go I was part of the team that helped set up the West Texas seminar and I plan on attending the Brady seminar soon. This is the first I have heard about the Concan seminar and I will look into attending that one as well. Hopefully I'll get to meet some of the members of this community come this February at the Lubbock Symposium.

And y'all should come over to NE Texas (Chapter 23) workshops held each May in Jefferson. They've had me down several times, but I probably won't be back until 2015. They also have had Tim Kent, Milt Denny, etc. Keep your eyes open for notices. Good fun, fellowship, learning, and good food including BBQ from one of the best BBQ joints in TX.

Was hoping to see your Wild Heerbrugg collection in 2014 ...
Guess it will have to wait...

Always care for your stamp.
I had a scare this past year when I could mm or find my ink stamp.
Luckily, it fell under the seat in my truck.

Always keep It close.

Congrats Cy,

And welcome to the club.

If you are ever around Johnson City, give me a shout and I will treat you to a pint or 2 of the local brew.

I don't know if they have settled on the program for May, but I do know they like a little variety.

I'm open to other venues as well, so perhaps your chapter or state would like to have me down sometime.
