At this point they are in pretty good shape in many areas, they aren't perfect by any means but the idea that they will automatically be replaced when the new data is released is a fantasy, it's going to take decades to work through projects, construction, FEMA, on and on and on, as you say, I have a number of ongoing monitoring projects that are mandated and can't change,,,,,,,,ever.

Getting new datums that are only tied to the CORS network might work, but I'm dubious at this point, we shall see.........

Looking at eBay I found this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coast-Geodetic-Survey-Brass-Marker-Elevation-Marker-RARE-Authentic/222154826195?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3Dd99cef5d2c074487bc81de9b5b652e6e%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D122016405085

This is a disk with a date but the stamping was probably sanded off. It was obviously set in concrete as the pictures showing the stem reveal. Looked on the site to report it but did not see how.

Not a frequent eBay user.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/262487164455
Designation Y110 1935 I haven't searched for likely states.
Reported.

For future reference, the "Report Item" link is on the right hand side of the page about one screen down from the top as I see it, before the item specifics and seller's terms&conditions..

The $250 fine for disturbing government monuments is outdated. The fine now is equal to the cost of replacing it. I don't know of any instances of NGS collecting this fine, but BLM does occasionally, and the cost can be very high if the area is remote and there is not much remaining original evidence.
