Yup. Gave up trying to get my ancient Jett running SurveCE 2.04 to record angles only. Setting up to do a round robin of Moon, Altair, Antares and Polaris tonight. Not that bugs are an issue right now, but this Baby will record in style. She will use the Sokia Transit field book No. 8152-00 with a Mirado Black Warrior HB 2 pencil, finely sharpened with a Panasonic electric sharpener, all zipped up in the EMS Venture 4 Bug Free tent, relaxing on the "Glam-camping" Coleman Air Mattress Cot; but not before dining on poached Salmon and roast potatoes, with a little Sauvingnon Blanc.
Never could get the Jett to read back angles anyway.
This is the way to do astro.

Excellent! Maybe I missed it, but where in Vermont are you? I lived in the NE Kingdom for awhile, then in Shelburne, then a few years in beautiful Rupert.

My Astro data recorder shut down after dark. Cold weather not real good for performance either.
I can envisage the bug free aspect would be a real bonus. Another thing my data recorder was susceptible to. Mosquitoes! Almost instant shut down.

Curious what your pillar setup is.
PVC pipe? Filled with anything?

Anyway all looks good.

Can't do sub-5 second Astro with pvc.
4" schedule 80 pipe, welded to 1/2" base flange, attached with (4) 1/2" bolts drilled and chemically anchored to rock ledge. I left the flange raised off the rock about an inch to allow light to hit the drilled magnail mark for centering and leveling.

I think I must have the same model data collector. So far she has only collected astro observations for me once.

I used a similar model.

Stopped working shortly after I retrofitted it with a 5/8" ring.

A man and woman had been dating for a few months then one evening instead of the usual dining out she ups and cooks him a perfect meal. Accordingly he asks her to marry him and she duly accepts. To celebrate the engagement they call their respective friends and all head down to their local bar and the men and women form their respective groups.

The man says to his mates: ƒ??Sheƒ??s just cooked my first mealƒ?.

The woman says to her friends: ƒ??Iƒ??ve just cooked my last mealƒ?.
