Quick question about procedure if any of you out there can help.
Unfortunately the majority of new plats I am seeing now don??t show any junior corners of lots that intersect a senior line.
No mention of corners or dimensions just a dashed line showing approximate position and text for lot identifier. The thing is, that I know from experience on some of these areas that the corner exists and in some cases is off line by a foot or more between the senior lot corners.
I was trained to survey all corners along the boundary and show the relation regardless of seniority of line. These new plats seem to say that the surveyor is surveying the lot in question and they don??t care about any other properties bordering. This is quite a cost cutting measure bit is it really a good survey?
It seems to me that this method can potentially cause gaps gores and other horrible paper problems.
I realize that these junior monuments can cause problems and the decision to go with monuments in harmony or set correct intersecting points can be heavy but isn??t that why we are professionals?
Thanks to all for the input
I have had 2 employers give me grief for 'doing all that extra work' locating all monuments along my lines. I left both within a month.
If you don't want to do the work, don't take the job.
There is whole set of arguments about what you do with the junior corners, but not even looking for them is deriliction of duty.
