Tds survey pro with tsx

Anybody have this setup? If so what are the benefits with optical surveying?

I did not think it was worth the additional 400-500$. The real problem happened when i went to hook to a gps receiver other than trimble. I had to reload survey pro without tsx to run a different brand of gps. Not sure about different brands of optical equipment. Jp
