I used my Ranger this morning on a job, drove to the next job, and it would not turn on. Sometimes I get a screen with jumpy vertical lines, sometimes it just black, sometimes the screen is grey with tiny text that says something like "Failure on Dataline 0" in the top left.
I've tried the power button for 10 seconds reboot, and removing the battery, etc., but nothing seems to work.
Any ideas what the problem is and how much it is going to cost? It's a Ranger 300x.
Thanks
I'm guessing it's the screen and not the board, since I can plug it into the USB and still get data the off it remotely.
What really sucks is that I had the screen replaced about 100 days ago (touch screen stopped working) and it came with a 90 day guarantee.
Is your pole bracket tightened too much? I had one on the fritz before and they attributed it to that. Something about on the left side by the tab button , on the inside, that if the case gets too much pressure there it can short a wire or something. Dont know if thats your problem or not but those symptoms sure seem familiar for some reason.
I am aware of that problem. It's apparenty from using the old style "C clamp" style bracket made for the Ranger 200 on the Ranger 300. For the 300, Seco makes a clamp that tightens from behind and is *supposed to* prevent the unit from being squeezed too hard. I've been using that type of clamp for quite a while.
I just called Atlas Electronics and mailed it out to them. This will be my first time using Atlas ... I wasn't completely satisfied with the company that did my screen repair last time. It took 3 weeks instead of the 1 week they said (said they got a shipment of damaged screens that had to be reshipped), and the replacement screen seemed to be lower quality than the one I had before. It was very dim and fuzzy... and now it's apparently broken.
Funny thing in all of this is that I have a Ranger 200 that looks like it's been run over by a truck. The screen is peeling off in layers, the lettering is barely visible on many keys, the yellow plastic is peeling off in places, the power port is loose (but still works) ... and it just keeps on ticking ... It's my back up and I'm glad to have it for the next week or so.
Please keep us posted.
Holding our breath for ya.
Good luck.
