I love that movie, but I can't find it on Netflix or Amazon.
What I believe to be the movie in question popped right up on Netflix for me. Made in 1981 and staring Keith Carradine, Powers Boothe, Fred Ward among others.
(not sure this link will work since I was signed in with my account)
Did I find the correct one?
There are several non english versions on YouTube.

Ever have a Cottonmouth fall out of a tree into the pirogue to join you. It happens in Fl.
Nice pic of cypress buttressing.

No, but I had a big bull frog jump on my head and scared the crap out of me. My buddy had one fall in his and he busted a hole in the pirogue beating it with the paddle.

great pics! Love Cypress heads.
SCREW. THAT.
I've had to wade through those before when we were doing the mapping for the new airport. nothing like kicking a log underwater and wondering if it's a gator. that was pretty dumb, have to admit.
The snakes in the swamp are more interested in sunning, and keeping out of trouble with you. We capitalize upon this. And, get our jobs done.

That's true for most water snakes. However, Florida Cottonmouths are extremely aggressive and WILL come right at you. They stink and are hard as hell to kill. Been there done that.

In the swamp it's better to "shuffle" than to step. Nudge don't kick, and for cripes sakes don't step on it. Nudging a gator is much safer than stepping on it. 😉
Dang, you guys can have that. I love surveying, but I could not do that.

Your definition and my definition of awesome are VERY different.

Says the person who's avatar shows you up to your waist in what... swamp?:D

Exactly! That wasn't awesome. That was the last corner on 3000 acres of hell in the Sabine River Bottom and the only reason I'm smiling is because I knew that (A) this was the coolest I'd been in 30 days (over 100?ø daily) and (B) I was done with this MF'r. 🙂
Trust me, I can appreciate all you just said.
I am so very glad I never had to roam around in "stuff" like that myself. Attempting to work in red clay is bad enough and is still stuff of nightmares. The type of clay that collects on everything and simply stays for years it seems.
The swamp doesn??t bother me I used to work as a biologist and we did tree tagging veg sampling and I been in there since I was a kid. I would wear shorts and wader boots. I now where pants and wader boots it??s too hot for waders.
