That's about as awesome as it gets.
Found. One (more) pocket of duckweed. Old. :plumbbob:
Looks like another good day.
The memories............
I have a 10ft flat bottom boat for days like that.
My first thought is "I bet it's hard to find a set stone underwater like that. Gotta wait til it dries up a little"

The boat is the best piece of equipment.
Where is the "this sucks, but I still love my job" button?
Curious what the survey is all about.
Fascinating country.
Is it a permanent swamp or does it dry out in summer.
Ditto Richard. I was going to ask the same thing on what the survey was about.
That photo immediately took me back to the movie 'Southern Comfort'.

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
You run into Yoda??
So what are you tying in exactly?
Are you guys hiring? That looks like fun work!
Hmmm, how important is it for me to step out of this boat and wade over a distance to catch some cool photos for the guys on Surveyorconnect. Oh well, I guess they are worth it. :p
I'm saving these. Very cool.
Thanks
That is not a boat, It is a pirogue (14'?), Cajun canoe/kayak of South Louisiana. Flat bottom and made with fiberglass, I don't think any are made of ABS.
Used by hunters, trappers and fishermen for shallow swamp water. If your skilled, you can carry some weight. If you duck hunt, it is a necessity.
it's in a Cajun's dna to paddle or pole a pirogue, I would suspect that Cordgrass has been using a pirogue since he was a young kid.
Cypress/Gum swamp. He might be tieing a corner with the GPS. Schonny to find the pipe.
My days in the Florida Swamps, we would be tying in a section corner, etc. that always seemed to fall in the swamp for some reason...

Most of the better parts of Louisiana look like that.
It is probably the opposite of Australia.
It is not far away from here and NE Texas river bottoms that have a name ending in "Bayou" look just like that.
I was looking for 8-10 corners of a divided family property Plus adjoining tracts. Only map my Client gave me had distances nothing else. The 4 tracts are 452x4290. Some of the property is located within a levee system not much mostly swamp that stays wet and is somewhat tidal. She only wanted the portion inside the levee surveyed. I started working on it and discovered 2 adjoining subdivisions were over what I thought was the line. Had surveys all around and everyone projected lines in the swamp. I decided to go in the swamp and see what I can find. Usually the timber is painted from long ago logging days. I found 5 of 10, 3/4 ips I was looking for. Found all of them with my Garmin Oregon 450. Just walked in circles with locator and used to Trimble to shot them in
