normal people on vacation are looking up, around and pointing at the beautiful things they are seeing.
Surveyors on vacation are looking down, and pointing at shiny objects in the sidewalk. "Look honey! A property corner!"
With all the traveling this time of year, it's a good time to see monuments from other places. These are from Maine.

What are the odds that that sidewalk elevation is on an even 1' contour?
This at a TVA lake and the "beach" shown is normally under water. Just about dead center you may be able to see the pink flagging on the rebar.
