man...?ÿ been underwater busy.?ÿ and still am.?ÿ but this week:
been fighting with one attorney who insists i "correct" my metes and bounds to match the record description.
get dragged into a conference call to find out why cad files "aren't lining up".?ÿ ?ÿmaybe, fellas, it's because you designed a 90 acre development (that includes a 25 acre lagoon) using open source lidar data and GIS boundaries from the appraisal district...
been fighting all day today with another attorney who's trying to blame me for a deal falling apart because i won't certify to an easement estate that doesn't get recorded until the deal closes.?ÿ like, i'm supposed to issue a signed and sealed survey with a <fill in the recording info by hand> document citation...
i need a hit of whatever's going around, seems like.
Blantons
just remember, Monday is only a few days away ???? it starts all over again
busy here still mopping up lightning damage, dealing with forensic mechanical engineers, insurance adjusters, clients, employees, family?ÿ and friends.?ÿ There must be a full moon out there
The attorney wanting you to "change" your description took me back to a conversation with a client many years ago.?ÿ As he was showing me precisely where he thought the corners would end up, he went into a long dissertation on the proper method of writing "leaps and bounds" descriptions.?ÿ He said you can tell whether or not a licensed land surveyor had prepared a description based on whether the path took you around the perimeter in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.?ÿ I forget now which one was the "absolute correct" way of doing it.?ÿ That was a rare case of me keeping my mouth shut and going the way he thought was correct.
I've heard of the changing description demand plenty of times but I've yet to encounter it myself.?ÿ How do you guys handle it??ÿ Do you politely tell them to pound sand, or...?

I reckon ??politely? is subjective??
I told him (as I??ve done in other cases) that so long as he sticks to his profession I won??t offer him any professional advice. Let the silence say the rest. Message was received.
@flyin-solo I understand.?ÿ Several years ago I did a lot in an older subdivision.?ÿ The surveyor who did the original subdivision wasn't the best when pulling the tape for distances but he set easily identifiable "crimped top" pipes for corners (50 years before Georgia required caps).?ÿ I measured all the lines, found all the monuments (original), and verified adjoining lot corners.?ÿ When I submitted the plat a young attorney called me saying I had to change some of the distances.?ÿ If the original subdivision plat called for 100 feet and my measured distance (between found monuments) HAD to be 100.00 feet, not the 100.10 that I had shown.?ÿ The owner COULD NOT sell what he didn't own.?ÿ I tried my best to convince him that, as far as I was concerned, the lines go from original monument to original monument, even if the measurement varied slightly.?ÿ As far as ownership, that was his problem, not mine.

@gary_g I was at a conference Tampa last week, and between that and Stagg Jr. (and maybe some absinth after midnight) we put a hurting on the expense account.?ÿ?ÿ
Expense account????
Haven't had one of those in over 35 years.
Way back when I had to ride a dinosaur on business trips I had to purchase traveler's checks at the bank by giving them an employer's check that covered the one percent fee as well as the amount being purchased.?ÿ I realize some reading the previous sentence are wondering what a traveler's check is.?ÿ Google it.
