finding this stone was exciting, it saved me a huge search, better yet are the two pits that are 5-1/2' from it as described in the notes.

Looking east through the stone's position and the less defined of the two pits with a lath in the center of it.

then looking west through the stone to the more defined pit:

stone mound, this may be the only stone mound in the township, I haven't read the notes for each corner in the township, but for the ones I'm interested in this is the only stone mound:

a section corner in poor condition:

A stone in great condition:

And for those who get a kick out of them a working windmill, there are at least 3 in this pasture, all in good working order from what I could tell:

It's hard to get a sense of pit depth from the photos. How much of a depression is there now?

I've seen a series of photos..and maybe it was even in a BLM publication..of a corner in a desert area. The first photo was during high sunlight and the geometry of the "pits and mounds" was invisible. The second photo was (probably) near dusk with almost horizontal light and the p&m were easily seen. Shallow, but still there.

ps -I've looked for that pic and can't find it...maybe when I find my glasses I'll have better luck...after my nap...;)

You must've had some decent search coordinates to get you looking in the right area because judging from the photos they are not obvious at all.

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

I was probably 100-150' west and 50' north with my search coordinates, so I was struggling to start with. I was about to give up on that one for a bit and head west to the section corner, that's when I saw the stone. I was very happy.
