Between 15 and 20 years ago I had one of my crews working on a fairly large tract of land on a local lake that would become a gated community. The crew chief knew the area and likely knew to be on the lookout for a number of things. On the plat, I noted the things he found. A few weeks ago we were hired to resurvey an individual lot in that subdivision. Here is a resent picture of one of the areas where that crew chief found something important. I am amazed that he was able to pick it out. Iƒ??m not sure I would have. It's not hard to understand why heƒ??s still my senior crew chief. Can anyone see what he saw all those years ago?

A very old, very unmarked cemetery of probably 10-12 graves. You can just see one of the stones and some depressions. The current owner said we must have made a mistake previously. Before we went to the job, he said "You can see there is no cemetery on our property".?ÿ

The greenish blob at left center must be a tombstone covered in some sort of moss.

Walking in area of heavy leaves can be very dangerous as they can obscure all sorts of hazards.

There is an old cemetery in the subdivision I live in (and helped to survey when I was working as an instrument man for a surveyor who still lives just down the street from me, in fact I see him riding his bike, at 98, quite often in front of our house).?ÿ It is very similar, and in fact my wife loves researching local history and old cemeteries.?ÿ There are at least 2 revolutionary soldiers (Mcwhorter and Bilue) who are buried there (buried circa 1830) and a few stones with no script.?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿMy wife was able to find the son of the Bilue buried?ÿ in another cemetery, after seeking him out.?ÿ As she was seeking, the groundskeeper noticed and asked what she was doing and was able to help her uncover the sons gravestone which was lying horizontal and just under the surface.?ÿ ?ÿAlso recently I was surveying a lot in the old section of the nearby town, and saw that the adjoining lot was attributed?ÿ to the?ÿ Bilue heirs.
