Hello,
I recently purchased a used set of Sokkia GSR 2700's I am having trouble getting a fixed position. I think it has to do with the radio on the unit I am using as a base. As soon as I power up the unit one of the radio led lights turns solid red and stays that way. It is not the power indicator because that one is right above it and turned on as well. The other unit does not turn solid red. I am using a Carlson Explorer II with SurvCE 2.62. When I am setting up the base and try to access the radio configuration to change frequency it times out and gives me an error message. I have tried a different data collector and get the same issue. I can access the receiver radio setting easily. I have also tried turning the base into a receiver and the red light stays solid red. When the base is set up i do se the led next to it begin flashing green like it is sending a signal. Does anyone have any ideas? I have taken to local Sokkia dealer. Service man said units passed all hardware tests. He claims it could be the mother board.

Nicolas

Some things you could try:

Check the antenna is attached properly/connector undamaged.

Swop the base and receiver antennas around (when both are switched off)

reload/update the receiver firmware

Check through the details of the 'Powerup' configurations you are loading.

Could you post a photo or sketch showing which LED is solid red?

Artie,
I have not tried to swap around the antenna's but will do so tomorrow morning. I have been searching online including the Sokkia website for the program to access the power configuration but have not been able to. I downloaded the one for the GRX but it did not work with my system. I have also done soft resets and hard resets. Here is the link to view a picture of which LED is on. I've had these units for about a month and haven't ever got a fixed position. Not even on float. Always Autonomous.

If anyone knows how to upload a picture directly please let me know.

Thanks.

OK Nicolas, I'm going to check my ISX model + the manual on the LEDs.

If you can find Sokkia Planning v4.2 on the web you can download and install that on your pc, it has the powerup configuration tools but you might need a cable to connect.

Have you tried the 'factory reset'? On the ISX you hold down the power button to do this.

I think you'll probably get some expert answers later on when the Americans waken up as there are lots of IS users there, (I'm in the UK).

I had a similar problem with the same set up. Dealer looked at it a said they didn't know what was wrong. I went to the Sokkia board on the old POB site and a VP got involved and he told me that when the red light goes to solid and stays that way it's bad. It's been over 4 years ago so I don't remember everything but I do know the unit had to be totally gutted and rebuilt. Hope yours isn't the same problem.

I am having an issue with my sokkia 2700isx. I power it on and the red led above the power is solid, the data transfer light is blinking, the tower light is on. I cannot power it down and it doesn't say receiver ready and none of the satellites or other led bars light up. Can someone please help me with this issue? Thanks in advance.

I don't have one of them, but I'd want new firmware, and batteries in them.
