Are these the same animal?
I would be running it with Carlson SurvCE and a Topcon FC 2500. It would be used on the NYSDOT Network as a single RTK receiver without a base of my own.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, other than the obvious cosmetic differences, the only difference between the two are the serial ports, GRX-1 uses the Sokkia type and HiperII uses the Topcon style, and the satellite indicator light pattern is different.
