Need some advice on a scanner for survey purposes. Leica is way out of budget. Anyone has a recommendation ? How much did you get it for?

I have a trimble TX5 which is out of production but it's actually a faro focus

Have a look at a focus x330 or the new topcon GLS-2000. This last one has the capability to traverse with prisms. Faro needs spheres or checkerboards for georeferencing.

If i would start new i would go for the Topcon. (investment å±60000‰âÂ)

More important is software. Extracting info out of the pointcloud takes a most of your time. I use Kubit Pointsense products and Pointcab software. Initial investment (å±10000‰âÂ)

Faro is a great instrument, purchased from DiCarlo in Salisbury, Maryland.

Does not have all the bells and whistles of a Leica, but it was almost 1/2 the price AND it has done everything we have asked it to do so far.
