Looking into getting vests to use for crew members but we use a focus35 with passive prisms. We have tried some more dull vests but it still seems to lock sometimes.

Does anyone have a good suggestion for vests???

Also, I was told by retailer to send our focus35 in for a firmware upgrade that should take care of the issue. Has anyone done this? I hate to spend the money on the upgrade and shipping if it doesn't solve anything anyway.

Thanks!

I just turn my vest inside out.

Rich, what firmware version are you using? I bought mine in March and it still locks on my vest if I'm not paying attention (if I'm wearing the vest right side out).

As I see it you have three options

A: active tracking
B: an instrument man
C: turn your vest inside out

We use a combination of any or all of the above

Note you can get vests that re hi-viz but dont have reflective on them - depending on what you are doing and where you are these may be legal for daytime work

I will check when they get back in. I doubt firmware will take care of the issue.

Focus doesn't have active track.

I think inside out will be the way to go. I will try the hi viz vests. We don't have any vests right now so anything is better than nothing.

Or purchase a different robot. Topcon passive does NOT track any vest. I haven't seen a robot tracking to a vest since 2004. Is that an old instrument?

Nope. New last year.

Neither does my S7 but that's active.

I have an Focus 30 and it doesn't lock on anything but the prism. I did update the Firmware because it was locking on cars when I first got it and that solved it. You should be able to update the Firmware yourself. My sales guy just uploaded the file to a dropbox and I took it from there. I just checked the link and it was still good. This was from July. https://www.dropbox.com/s/sn2pguhhrlddlfp/FocusFWPackage_R1_6_7.zip?dl=0

Not to worry, after you wash the vest enough times the reflective tape just falls off anyway
