I prefer front bumper mount...would do rear...
But it seems that no one really builds them anymore.
Appears that Ruxworks no longer works.
And...$500 for a mount seems excessive.
Any ideas or links?
(Not really interested in the door mount. Looking for fast in/out.)
SECO took over manufacturing RuxWorks products a while back, 2008. However I don't see a front or rear bumper mount on their web site. RuxWorks did offer a mount which attached to trailer hitch receiver but the pole was still on the side of the vehicle at the back corner by taillight. That item seems to have disappeared from SECO's product listing.
Hixon Mfg and Supply in Fort Collins does some custom manufacturing of products for surveying. Web site is www.hixonmfg.com or call Tim or Jerry at 800-762-5252. (Hope this referral doesn't run afoul of board rules.)
not what you're asking for, but the magnetic roof mounts work well for us when clearance along the sides of the truck get too tough/brushy for side-mount rod-holder.
Go to home depot, get some schedule 40 PVC, metal straps, nuts, bolts and washers; hook it up to your bumper and voila--you have your pole mount.
I have a 2" receiver hitch mount for rover road, this isn't a very good photo, BUT all I could find without mounting it and taking some photos, here you see it on the back of the truck with at that time a Leica 500 on a 2 meter pole.
I would be willing to part with this as I rarely use it, in fact it hasn't been used in several years.
If interested, let me know and we can deal. Shipping might be a killer, HOWEVER, I am going to be in the Portland area this weekend, if you wanted to drive down???
These guys did a project in my neck of the woods a while back, and they had a pretty spiffy homemade mount for their RTK setup. Wish I'd have taken a pic, but I know part of it consisted of a fishing rod holder and some brackets.
(Sure would like to know how they get "Enhanced grade accuracy to within 1/100th of an inch tolerance.") 😉
Design and have your local welder build your own. I'm thinking something that bolts to the frame of the truck would be better than trying to attach to a plastic bumper.
I have questions that may or may not be relevant:
Wouldn't a bumper mount be subject to more error than something mounted in the center of the vehicle?
Isn't the rod supposed to be more or less plumb for a "shot"?
I've seen a frined of mine use the vertical portion of a modified trailer hitch bicycle rack, no horizontal rack for bikes anymore. His rod slides in the square metal tube and is very secure at highway speeds.

Thanks man, just saw that. Portland would have been undoable anyway. Thanks for the offer and thought, though. I owe you a beverage of your choice eithet way, should our paths ever cross.
I am still open to dealing, just threw this weekend out there, if you want it we can probably figure out a way to ship it to you or meet some other time.
