Wasn't sure what topic; Rest in Peace, or Lost or Stolen Equipment...

Had a man lift back over the robot this morning. It had been sitting there for a few hours; the driver just wasn't paying attention.

Anyone else have a piece of equipment go down like this? I know, lots of variables; what was it worth, what's it going to cost to replace it, is there compensation for lost time, productivity? Anything I should watch out for?

At least no one was hurt.

?ÿ

I hope everyone is having a great day! I know I'm trying really hard a t this point.

Insurance? (Although the deductible is probably more costly than buying a new one)

Tax deduction? (ask Accountant) [do not call the IRS]

And/or, suck it up as the cost of doing business.

Happy trails Bud. ?????ÿ

Supply chains being what they are it's going to take a while to acquire a replacement instrument.?ÿ?ÿ

Possibly your cost can be recouped from the contractors insurance since it was their FU.?ÿ Call your agent and put it in his hands for now.?ÿ

curious what sort of policies others have taken out on their equipment? With mine I paid for it with cash right before I setup my business entity but after seeing the very same used equipment setups for both a data collector, robot & network rover going for more than double what I paid for, it has me wondering if I ought to look into insuring mine. especially considering the lack of availability for a timely replacement. what would something like this run me for a small solo shop like myself? Should I insure it for the value paid for the equipment or what it might cost me to replace it with the latest/greatest? ?ÿ

@ncsudirtman?ÿ

Insure it!!!!?ÿ The insurance company will ask what it cost new, when was it purchased, and devalue their coverage from there.?ÿ Regardless, INSURE YOUR EQUIPMENT!!!

@kevin-hines?ÿ

I have a replacement cost rider on my listed equipment insurance.?ÿ Actually not much more for the coverage.

As a side note, make sure your plan covers rented equipment.?ÿ I had a demo unit picked up and thrown on the ground by a whirlwind.?ÿ At first my carrier was not going to pay since I did not have the rented equipment rider.?ÿ The fact that it was a demo unit and not a rental saved my bacon.?ÿ I would have hated to have to buy another TCRA1101 with that newfangled power search and not be able to even use it.

@john-putnam?ÿ

I'll have to look at the replacement cost rider.?ÿ My carrier has been holding back on me, I didn't realize that was even an option.

Stay safe.

We had a ?ÿrobot sitting In the middle of the grade run over with a backhoe. The contractors insurance picked up the replacement value. I am not sure how insurance would feel about this setup though.
