So I've been having a back and forth over and old survey we prepared 15 years ago with a local realtor. They called and I was on the phone, so when I called back, the realtor was not available and the lovely lady on the phone said:
Lovely Lady: "Is this the surveyor?"
Me: "This is the surveyor."
Lovely Lady: "Realtor wanted me to get the date from you."
Me: "Not a problem. Today is the 24th day of June in the year of our Lord, 2014."
Lovely Lady: *Rolling Laughter*.
Me: "Was that not the date you wanted?"
Lovely Lady: *Rolling Laughter*.
Lovely Lady: (I think shes crying at this point) "No, we needed the date of the surveys you prepared 15 years ago."
So I gave them to her and the call ended.
Funny ring ring for Tuesday with a smidgen of sarcasm that was welcomed by the lovely lady at the real estate company. 🙂
Better watch out...Next call will be to have you re-fresh your 15 year old survey for some outlandishly low fee.

Uh.... Mr. Hines. That is not how it would go here. In this area the Real Estate company would ask for a copy of the old survey so they could reuse just like it was brand new.
I don't give out copies of old work. I explain that if there is a new transaction that there should be a new survey. "You wouldn't be ok with your doctor using a 15 year old X-Ray of your arm if you thought it was broken today would you?"

Now I know who to call when I need the current date! Do you do time, too? How about weather?
> Now I know who to call when I need the current date! Do you do time, too? How about weather?
Yes, we do that too, but with respect to whatever time zone and climate is hip at that moment. For example, if you were to call now, I would give you the time in Ghana, but the temperature in Sibera. 🙂
The weather today in Tulsa is light, with a period of increasing darkness expected in the evening hours.
Due to a strike by the weather forecaster's union, Local 30.06 and Falling, there is officially no weather today. However, some of them are crossing the picket lines. Therefore our forecast is for scattered weather over the greater Hoople area.
(As best I remember Peter Schickele's routine)
I feel the same way... As you know, there are those that try anything to side-step the correct process, even if it means showing a 15 year old survey.

Unless they had a paying client name, file name and/or date from my paperwork 15± years ago, I would have replied that 15yrs ago it was it was June 24, 1999.
If they did not know any of that, then they were using deed information and hearsay that I surveyed it.
My name is in the last thence of my description. Lawyers usually don't include that in their deed and they usually take out the bearing reference at the beginning.

Thank you for that link, Bill.
That guy is who I'd truly love to be - like -
I'm just not that talented or bright.
I laugh a lot, though, really a lot.
I think that's almost as good.

We sold a copy of the old survey to a client. We didn't give them out. 🙂

Unless you are being sarcastic, our surveys are certified to the client and other vested parties if applicable. That makes the survey and all of the data their property via the contract. Wouldn't selling someone's personal property be kind of illegal? Especially if the person who said they were a realtor were nothing more than a nosey neighbor, posing as a realtor that is in battle with said client?
