Oh, hey thanks for getting the FEMA elevation cert out, but the insurance guy says you did it wrong, he needs different pictures and the form re issued. Apparently, the agent thinks my four pics don't show enough "detail" of the house...

Seriously tempted to email the guy a link to a camera sale at Walmart. Why don't these agents do their own freaking job?

I doubt it's actually the agent that made that call, I think the agents could care less. They just punch in the numbers and the computer spits out a rate. The only time I've had this problem is when it came back from the FEMA underwriter or reviewer. In my case, the house was surrounded by a tall thick hedge and the underwriter said my pictures were inadequate because you couldn't see the building foundation ... Now, I take lots of pics from many angles, close-ups of vents and equipment, foundations, etc. and include the 4 best. If anyone has a problem with the 4 pics, I dump them all the pics I took. Never had a problem after that.

Tell them to take their own d@@@ pictures. You are a surveyor, not a professional photographer. That's the bottom line. You create a product. If they don't like it, tough cookies. You do not work for the insurance company. The entire reason this work is done by surveyors is because they are DISINTERESTED third parties. Express your DISINTEREST loudly, if need be.

When I did elev certs in my former life, I had usually 6 - 8 pictures on the forms. Add additional sheets as necessary to include the pictures.

I send multiple pictures all the time. Supposedly the pics are to verify the building number but I assume it will be a piece of evidence for a future claim. I could only imagine an adjuster stating 'I think your house was always at this odd slant'...

technically, we only are required to provide TWO pictures. I assume that is to provide verification that we were actually there and that the house diagram is basically correct.

Personally, I like to show four, one from each side of the house or to show the enclosure/vents if that makes more sense.

Maybe it's my Taurus bullheaded personality, but if someone calls me up and starts out with an unfounded complaint from left field, I tend to dig in. If they call up and say, hey, do you have any other pics of this or that, I'm generally more likely to drop what I'm doing and help out.

I have found insurance companies really scrutinizing the flood certs...my prices have gone way up.
