They've got one in Louisville Colorado, ( when I lived there) and Minneapolis by the airport.?ÿ They screw up phone using people because it requires attention.?ÿ Not sure how many more are planned, but the traffic is fun to watch when they first open for usage.

@dave-karoly

Sounds like they were working outside the scope of their license. Or likely didn't even have one( more likely).?ÿ That is a frequent violation that never seems to get the attention of the FCC. Kinda like spam phone calls.

I've experienced the symptoms you speak of but never could identify the real cause. It has only happened when working adjacent to military bases with an airport. 2 different bases and it happened at both. I've worked in and adjacent to numerous major airports with no problems whatsoever.

I've had microwave antennas stomp my GPS reception when I worked around cell towers on mountain tops where the microwave antennas were relatively low to the ground.?ÿ Moving my setup 15-20 ft to get off to the side of the beam cleared up the jamming effect the antenna was causing.?ÿ This was with Trimble 4000sse receivers nearly 20 years ago.?ÿ Perhaps a combo of RF emissions that interfere with both the radios and GPS reception.

@holy-cow

We did one of those last year in Paducah ?ÿCalled it a DCD, double crossover diamond. Alleviated a lot of backups onto the I-24 ramps.?ÿ

Police radio wouldn't be operating at 300 MHz, which falls in the 225 MHz ƒ?? 400 MHz military aircraft band. In the US, police land mobile radios have traditionally been in the 150 MHz ƒ?? 162 MHz and 450 MHz ƒ?? 470 MHz bands, and, for some years now, more and more have been moving to the 851 MHz ƒ?? 869 MHz band. There's still some rural or statewide police use of frequencies down around 40 MHz. None of these frequencies are what I consider microwaves ƒ?? that term is usually used for frequencies from about 3 GHz to about 30 GHz (3,000 MHz to 30,000 MHz).

Appreciate the response and education, I'm certainly not a radio frequency expert, but I have experienced problems similar to the OP, as stated in my response, in the vicinity of microwave dish's, any insight into your experience in similar situations would be greatly appreciated so we can help this guy out!
